The first question we asked ourselves when the idea of the Live Writing.co.za website was born was ‘What do writers need?’ Since then it’s taken quite some time to get funding, approach Live Writing team members and establish a site where writers gather to give other writers support, inspiration and constructive feedback.
An important aspect of Live Writing.co.za is the opportunity to source freelance work for the writers and editors who are part of the Live Writing team. As well as providing excellent feedback, copy and any other writing-related requirement, the services offered by Live Writing.co.za also meet writers’ needs for support and sustenance.
The Live Writing Fund assists writers of exceptional talent, with small financial grants to help to pay for editing and mentoring, writing courses or essential writing materials. A percentage of the editing and writing fees paid to the Live Writing team will go towards the fund, all very much in the spirit of writers helping writers.
The construction of the Live Writing.co.za site was made possible with financial assistance from SEDA (Small Enterprise Development Agency). Live Writing also received a grant from NAC (National Arts Council of South Africa) which was especially valuable in helping to establish the Live Writing Fund.
